So last weekend (yeah I know I'm behind again) was a killer. Between cakes and meetings I didn't see my family at all and ended up sick from exhaustion...

The owner of Hatties (Beth) called me on Wednesday afternoon and needed a cake for Friday! Someone rented the restaurant out for the night and ended up needing a very cool cake! Obviously a Mardi Gras theme... served about 75.

My little sister got married on April 4th out in Skaneateles and yes I made the cake.
I assembled the cake in the board room of the reception site (The Lodge at Welch Allyn). My Mom was my assistant for the evening.

My sister-in-law, Heather Bohm-Tallman was the photog and posted these sneak peaks on her blog the other day. I was also the MOH and unfortunately there is no picture of me in the dress & heels carrying the cake... my husband looks on.

the cake was chocolate with raspberry mousse and vanilla buttercream (vanilla fondant too). The draping is black fondant with pink damask design.

The design was a surprise to Kate & Chad and they seemed to like it!

Jordan celebrated her 5th birthday with a Little Mermaid cake.

She requested a chocolate cupcake with strawberry frosting, sprinkles and a real strawberry on top for her very own.

Tad celebrated his 3rd birthday with a cake that had pink on it. He was allowed to choose all the details for his party...

I made him his very own cupcake too.

Cassie and Caden shared a party this year with an "Under the Sea" theme. Cassie turned 5 in January and Caden turns 4 in March.

When it came time to blow out the candles, Caden wanted nothing to do with it. Bummer...

They were married at Christ the King Spiritual Life Center in Greenwich. This cake was such a neat idea-all the guests' names written on it and it served 154. Each side is different and I had to carefully plan it out.

How did I plan it? Each name was printed and cut out to easily move around.

Their reception was at The Gideon Putnam on Saturday night. Boy was this cake a challange! Marinela really wanted her cake to look somewhat like her dress (picture included). So this is a buttercream cake with fondant wrapping and sparkley "appliques" all sprayed with pearl and it served 128. As soon as I was ready to get the cake in the car, it started pouring. Once it let up, I get in the car and head over to the Gideon only to get stuck in concert traffic and the 5 minute drive turned in to 15... All ended well and now I wait to hear from the bride and hope to see pictures of her dress and cake together.

Unfortunately the lights were being turned down as I took the picture so I appologize for the bad example. There was a monogram on top, then dots, swirls next and finally lines. This one served 172. They were married at Silver Bay yesterday. The delivery was quite an adventure... it started to rain just as I got the cake in the car and then it rained harder - I could barely see the road! So after that and closed roads, I arrived 1/2 hour late (1st time ever!) but the priest was stuck in the weather too so it all worked out fine. Then I discovered there were no flowers like planned so I had to get crafty. There are fresh ferns, dogwood blossoms and birch branches on this cake. Very natural...

The Bread Basket is my family's bakery in Saratoga Springs, NY. I'm lucky to be a part of it and I wouldn't be able to have this business without its support and resources (not to mention space to work). The bakery now has a phenomenal cake decorator (Leah Stewart) on staff who is taking the cake department to a whole new level.

While I do appreciate the interest in my cakes, I'm afraid I cannot do anything other than wedding cakes now. If you have a need for shower or groom's cakes, please contact the bakery (518.587.4233) for these requests. Leah can make something really fun for your event!

Since I'm at it, I've added a list on the right hand side of this page for completely booked dates of this year. Many other dates are filling fast so check back often.

I can't believe my baby is a year old now. We had a big party this past weekend for him and of course I made the cake. Graham shares the birthday with Hilton (grandpa) and Hugh (great-grandpa). This wedding was way up in Silver Bay at the YMCA. Again, lots of snow and the bride walked over to the chapel in her boots. I just love that they were bold enough to get a blue cake. This one served 74 with 25 cupcakes for the kids.

They were married yesterday and the reception was at The Desmond in Albany. The cake serves 100. The flowers were by Fleurtacious-very nice!

I also got a chance to see the happy couple! They said the cake is just how they wanted it. Yeah!

This was a Saratoga Hotel cake. It was 198 servings and was a mix of flavors. The leaves & topper were made of gum paste. The borders, leaves and topper were hand-painted with edible gold paint. The cake took plenty of time to create and I hope they enjoyed it.
